Another op shop find

The Spouse found, hidden amongst the books on the op shop shelving, these 2 old postcards of unknown dates.

Top one is looking down Elizabeth St towards Flinders St Station.
Bottom one is the intersection of Swanston and Flinders St.

I'm assuming the printer was either trying to find the hair of the dog what bit him, the apprentices were having a Muck Up Day or architects were plotting lime green and purple buildings for Melbourne, at some stageexclaim

  1. Great pics. Some things in them have changed... others haven't.

(You might want to check your scanner de-screen options; might be able to get a less dithered scan.)

  2. Unknown dates, eh? Judging by the styles of dress, type of cars and somewhat garish colour quality (and always remembering that these are photographs of Australia) I'd estimate about 2006.

  3. They are truly truly hideous. And a knee to Brian's gonads.

  5. What a great find. I love to find old paper flotsam and jetsam tucked away in books or fallen behind places. Yes they are garish but I would still be excited. As for Mr Brian...come down here and say that...

  6. Thanks Daniel :)
I'll have a fiddle with the settings but some pics, of cheap(er) quality, turn out like that for me.

Brian, you'll be painted in garish colours and dubbed the Wicker Man if you're not careful lol.

I wouldn't want them larger than they are as a mural in a house, Andrew !

Amelia, I love op shops so I'll be checking out the blog, thanks :)

It's the little finds that can be so much fun, LiD :)

  7. Lid,

Send me the plane tickets and I'd be glad to oblige. Anything to get away from this dump...
