Trivial History September 15

Look, it's finally been posted!
Only 2 days late but back in time where it belongs.

1870 The Melbourne Hospital for Sick Children - just to weed out those who were faking it - was opened in Carlton with a whole 6 beds.

1895 Popular American author Mark Twain arrived in Oz during his lecture tour.

1909 Jean Batten, the daring young woman in her flying machine who flew solo from England to Oz in 1934 and wowed them in the aisles with her derring-do in the skies, was pupped in NZ.

2000 The Sydney Olympics held the opening ceremony.
