1824 The very first Canadian medical school began the very first classes on this day at The Montreal Medical Institute.

1830 Josiah Henson, the model for the hero of Harriet Beecher's Uncle Tom's Cabin, arrived in Ontario from Maryland with his wife and 4 children via the Underground Railway.

1834 The Battle/Massacre of Pinjarra took place when WA Gov Stirling led an armed party of 25 police, soldiers and volunteer civilians in reprisal against the Pinjarra people for the murder of 19 yr old Hugh Nesbit which resulted in the death of thirty Indigenous People.
