Aussie Book Give-away

Yes, I'm being ruthless and culling all the double copies of my Australian book collection.
But.
Instead of chucking 'em to the well-deserving local op shop I'm giving them away to both celebrate History Week next week and to double up as a thank you to readers who have been so supportive in recent months.
The first give-away is a 1966 edition of Australian Short Stories selected by Walter Murdoch and H. Drake-Brockman.
Photobucket
A small tome this will easily fit into your average handbag, back pocket or prop open the garden variety bank card statement.
Some of the stories date to the beginning of the 20th century and even earlier, with illustrious Aussie authors such as Barbara Baynton, Edward Dyson, Lance Skuthorpe, Ernestine Hill, Xavier Herbert, Alan Marshall and a bajillion others who are no longer considered house-hold names but who were read alongside Henry Lawson, Banjo Paterson and their ilk.
*Please be aware there may be offensive comments reflecting the attitudes of the time in these tales; please ignore them and enjoy the stories in their context*
Winners will be picked at random, using the very sophisticated "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" system that has solved many a political schoolyard debate.
Just leave a comment letting me know if you'd like to be in the running for this highly desirable door wedge book.
Or just leave a comment telling me, in 25 words or less, why I should paint my toe nails purple this Summer.

Purple toenails = happy feet.

When your feets is happy, so's the rest of ya!

After you paint your toenails, you should dye your hair purple.

By the by, that was 25 words EGGsackly.

In flip-flops you'll feel sexy,
when feeling shy, you can wear shoes,
under the sheets, no one will know.

Jayne, Do you celebrate Halloween? Purple toe nails would look good with some Gothic purple hair streaks on Halloween -- or anytime if you are so inclined. -- barbara

Purple is the royal colour, so you, as Queen Jayne, should definitely have purple toe nails.

Also, I would love to be in the running for this little book. We had a book of Australian Short Stories way back in high school, but my copy seems to be missing here.

Oh, I'm such a sucker for Aussie authors! But Eeny Meeny Miny Moe never works for me so I fear I shall put my hand up in vain.

And why should you paint your toenails purple? Because you can!

Happy travels!!

Simple reason.

You can get completly sozzled, stagger around hal cut, and when queried you can tell people you have been grape stomping, showing your tootsies as proof. Spilling a little red wine on your clothes is completly optional, but adds to the legitimacy.

That should read 'half cut'

Ah the comments had me in stitches - "half cut" indeed! Yup love to be in the running and cannot out do the previous purple toe comments. Also thought about you for the National Novel Writing month - have detailed it on Scrubby Bush - not sure if it's your thing but thought I'd mention it as starts Nov 1.

So in the eeny meany miny stakes I must now be the nigger? Hmm or do you count the PS notes - oh so confusing - get a hat!
