Just cos I'm bored....and taking over the universe was put on hold until after lunch time tomorrow.
Paul McDermott (whom some regard as a God) lent his voice to a movie, Medusa, about a snake-headed Goddess alongside John Safran who is often Speaking in Tongues with Father Bob Maguire who frequently speaks to God and who was interviewed by a tv demi-god Andrew Denton who started out as a delivery man on A Country Practice way back in 1987...with Doris the Pig God.
As you were....

Buildings, Anzac march and banners, oh my!
Could hear the train whistle and was mesmerised with the idea of seeing a choo choo on Anzac Day thereby forgetting I had a camera in my bag until almost the last minute.
Well, that's my excuse *snort*.
Hmmm, coal.
Actually, this shot is of the back end of the train, it had the 2nd engine in back for the shuttle trips back and forth from Pakenham to Berwick.
Further updates and events for Steamrail Victoria can be caught on their Facebook page HERE.
*The next one is the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Moe-Walhalla line, looks good!
And now for the buildings I happened to snap for the enjoyment of all....

And now for the buildings I happened to snap for the enjoyment of all....
Flinders Street opposite Flinders Street Station.
Flinders Street building (Andrew will probably know it's official name)
The Forum Cinema, just for Debby.
Flinders Street Station in all her 100 year old glory.
St Paul's Cathedral and buildings stretching into the distance.
More bricks and mortar.
And now I'm off like a bucket of prawns in the sun, back soonish !
WW1 hatred rears its ugly head
Well, I was going to post a couple of pretty pictures including one of the steam train I managed to capture chugging through Oakleigh on its way to the wilds of Pakenham.
But Howard has demanded my attention in his comment on my photos of Anzac Day.
Howard said...
The flag with Attaturk on it is an insult to the whole thing.
I suggest you look closely at the banners in the last two pictures to see both the Turkish and Aussie flags together with Mestafa Ataturk's words on one banner with the other reading
The only insult, Howard, is your inability to look beyond a past foe to see today's friend.

Mestafa Ataturk was commander of the 19th Division of the Turkish Army and was defending his home land against the Anzac invasion.
After the war he dragged Turkey into the 20th century, wanting peace and friendship, then in 1934 he famously wrote this dedication to the fallen Anzacs:
Yes, Howard, before you ask my father's family lost several sons in the Gallipoli campaign. Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well.
I suggest you look closely at the banners in the last two pictures to see both the Turkish and Aussie flags together with Mestafa Ataturk's words on one banner with the other reading
"Give Australia more than she gives you"
The only insult, Howard, is your inability to look beyond a past foe to see today's friend.

Clothes
Dunno that I'm all impressed with the French Govt's efforts to 'liberate' Muslim chicky babes from themselves by banning the Burqa.
Not much better than the Taliban who demand that the sheila's wear it.
Personally, I couldn't give a toss if a person had a hankering to don a paper bag to do the shopping or wanted to streak nekkid through town.
So long as it doesn't end in tears fashion is in the eye of the beholder.
Now, I shall go steam press my wimple, get my fishnets untangled and chisel the mud off my Blunnies for my next outing....

Important message - Field of Women

Copied and passed on from Frogpondsrock.
I have been asked to help spread the word about the Breast Cancer Network Australia’s field of women LIVE event 2010,which is going to be held in Melbourne.
It’s taking place on Friday, 7 May 2010 and will see 14,000 women and men standing together in pink ponchos to form the Pink Lady silhouette on the MCG, reflecting the number of women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. The event aims to raise awareness and much needed funds to support women diagnosed with breast cancer (BCNA is a unique not for profit organisation, its sole focus is on providing complete support for women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and their families).
My Mum lost her battle to breast cancer in 1998 and I've had several benign lumps removed myself.
It's a non-discriminatory disease ; doesn't care what age, colour, race, religion you are.
Doesn't care if you're rich or poor, working or on welfare.
Doesn't care if you hold university degrees or barely passed high school.
And it doesn't just dig it's nasty claws into the victim - it forever leaves a shadow on the family of it's victims.
You can follow them on Twitter @BCNApinklady
You can join the Breast Cancer Network Australia Facebook fan page.
You can register to attend the event at www.fieldofwomenlive.org.au
You can provide a link to the event www.fieldofwomenlive.org.au on your blog and encourage your readers to promote this link on their websites and blogs as well.
You are more than welcome to copy this and post it onto your blog as well.

Piccys from last Sunday's stroll all over the countryside sans The Leyland Brothers
Baker, Plumber, Oakleigh certainly was a popular boy.
Bliss.
Another.
Ok, Tracee, Dam Buster?
Help?!
Any ideas?
Both found at diagonally opposite ends of a car park in the heart of Oakleigh shopping precinct.
A remnant of former Victorian Railways, before that beast became extinct.
Along with owner onus commonsense.
Little sub-power station near railway car park, perched on its own, all lonesome and peeling paint.
Love the wooden finials on the ends of the gable roof.
No idea what they patented - the metal plate?
Did they just come along, see a metal plate stuck in the footpath and think "I'll patent that, I will" ?
Or is there some long lost invention hidden beneath the metal plate they patented?
Are Melbourne's streets riddled with long lost patented ideas?
Do we walk over little whims of fancy without realising it?
Or are they boring old garden variety patents on a washer, nuts and bolts or a Bunyip?
Answers in 25 words or less to The Stark Raving Mad Chick.
Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into unless there's a bribe of dark chocolate on offer.
We've met the Melbourne Waterworks road plates before but this is a larger jobby, perhaps sheltering a major intersection between pipes when hot and cold running water was as much a novelty as hot and cold running maids.
Chimney.
Countryside?
Urban rural?
No.
Downtown suburban Murrumbeena.

Some left-overs to tease you with
Cos the building appealed to me.
Is pretty.
My Mum's gardenia.
Thrives on neglect.
That's Dad tucked under the brolly, in the wheelchair with all the shopping.
Wave to Dad!
Ohhh...shiny!
The Castlemaine RSL was armed and slightly dangerous.
Prickly thing at Botanical Gardens, of the Royal variety.
Drool.
Pressed metal ceiling on shop verandah.
Brought to you by the simple fact I'm too lazy to go out to the kitchen to retrieve the camera and upload the bajillion of snaps with which to torment you as part of my cunning plan to take over the world.
Think yourselves lucky.
