Education in Victoria? HA!

Damn you, Baillieu and all who sail in your leaky piddly boat of BS.
How dare you screw with our kids' future.
How dare you dismiss avenues of opportunity with a wave of your pen.
What freaking right do you have to slash hopes for students in all walks of life?

You've kicked the TAFE funding to the kerb, the funding for VCAL is much slimmer, every teacher is worth a damn lot more than you earn and now work experience placements at Melbourne Museum are history.

Shall we count the pennies you wasted fighting the hard-working, over-worked and under-paid nurses during their work ratios dispute, again vastly under-valuing a vital resource in our community?

You, sir, are a dinosaur with no ability to envision the future for others whom you purport to govern.

Yep, he did promise that the teachers wouldn't be the worst paid but the best paid. He also said he wouldn't use the desalination plant when its eventually up and running even though its costing us consumers billions of dollars a day for it to lay idle a wasted asset in my books :-).

He is running this state like we need austerity measures, only reason Victoria's economy is slowing down is cos he's not investing in infrastructure and development.

Ha, Windsmoke, those promises are like whisps of smoke on the wind and our kids are facing gloomy futures.

plpplplplpl... [is that how to spell a raspberry?]

I won't mention Auslan again, but how about this: we are importing tradespeople because no one here has a trade POSSIBLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY for trades... and now the feds are importing MERCENARIES because we don't have an army left and the ONLY thing not yet privatised is PARLIAMENTS... oh wait, maybe that has already happened but we just don't got tolded yet cos it's offof the record...

I can't believe the lows of incompetence to which State Governments have sunk - and it seems unrelated to political persuasion. Being a politician doesn't make you qualified to spend other people's money - why do we fall for that trap over and over again?!?!

But I guess they're all just taking their cue from the feds ...

Exactly, FC, they all need to be booted up the proverbial arse and sent off-shore.

They're all idiots, Red, and we could do with some new blood to get these two mobs to pull their heads in - oops, the Democrats were supposed to do that before Meg Lees agreed to Howard's GST and effectively killed off that party *rolls eyes*

I knew about the slashing of funding, whichis bad enough, but I hadn't heard the work experience placements were gone too. This is shameful. Soon there'll be no incentive for kids to stay in school or apply for jobs. They won't get jobs with no experience and they won't get experience without the work experience program. It is a great way to "try on" different jobs to see if they suit.

Spot on, River, they get a taste for what their chosen area might be, gives them incentive to work harder at school, so on and so forth.
We're going backwards now *sigh*.

Sucky, sucky, sucky. It makes me angrier than I can express (or at least without much swearing) that it is considered OK to shaft teachers and nurses - the very people we need at the beginning and at the end of our lives. Grrr.

Indeed, EC, every man, woman and child knows they are fundimental necessities in every community, and if you reduce their numbers you reduce the care/education needed for the next generation.
Apparently this is not obvious to those who should know better.
