1785 Soot from forest fires mixed with the precipitation creating a black rain to drizzle down in Eastern Canada.

1849 Crew of HMS Rattlesnake discovered and rescued castaway Barbara Thompson at Evans Bay who had lived with the local Aboriginal People for 5 years on the Cape York Peninsula.

1852 Bushrangers progressively bailed up and robbed 19 people, all within a few hours, on that little sandy track now known as Brighton Road, St Kilda.

1877 Sir James Prendergast said The Treaty of Waitangi was "worthless".
This was used to influence govt decisions for many years afterwards.
Damn man had only been commenting on his reflection...

More details of this talented woman HERE.

1961 Canada managed to sell $20 million worth of wheat to Poland.
For those drop scones.
