August 1 Happy Birthday to all the gee gees

In the Southern Hemisphere we loike to toast the nags on this day.
Cos we can.
As opposed to the Northern Hemisphere where they lump the poor gee gees birfdays in with New Year's ripped off can you be!
Speaking of ripped off, how burned would this joker feel after he stuck a firecracker between his bum cheeks.... and lit it...?
I do loike the Commander's comment "they're not designed for that particular placement."
I'm beyond perplexed by the stink over the Aussie boxer, Damien Hooper, wearing the Aboriginal Flag on a t-shirt he wore into the Olympic ring as the Aboriginal Flag is an official flag of The Fair Isle of Oz.
Oh, wait, it didn't have the Union Jack, to tug the forelock to the Mother Country, maybe?
Say goodbye for ever to the historic Arthur's Seat Look-Out Tower, near Dromana.
But say hello to the new look of the historic former Channel 9 studios!
Today is the final closing day of the competition for the redevelopment of Melbourne's historic Flinders Street not get your doodles and 4 year old's kinder fingerpainting scribbles in, you never know what they may choose!

Right, on to business....
1831 This day saw the official ceasation of Free Land Grants in NSW, land was after this date to be flogged off at public auction to the highest bidder.
1831 Also on this day on the other side of the island Yagan came to the attention of authorities after he slew a settler in retaliation for other Nyungar murders at Melville Water, Westralia.
1964 On a lighter note, Melbourne channel ATV-O  (now known as Channel 10) began chattering away to the loungerooms at large across the 'burbs.

And I'll leave you with a link to a fabulous contempory take on The Last Supper as how it should represent today's people in Oz.

  1. Also A Happy birthday to approximately 62,850 residents of Australia.

In China however, today there will be around 5,737000 Birthdays. PLUS
    2O0,795000 Candles burned.

  2. I've climbed the Arthur's Seat tower a few times. Last time I was there it was closed and it is very clearly decaying badly. We could of course have a new tower???

  3. Happy Birthday to all horses world-wide! I hope they all had hay-cakes to celebrate.

  4. 1964 gave us channel oh? Mercifully the rabbit ears were pointed permanently in the direction of Auntie.

  5. mm, am due to wrap legs around a horse tomorrow, thanks fer reminding me. Will give him a birthday card.

  6. No, wait... today ... Thursday

  7. The phone rings, and the wife answers.

A pervert, with heavy breathing, says, "I bet you have a tight ass hole with no hair."

Woman replies, "Yes, he's watching TV - who shall I say is calling?"

  8. I remember going to the channel 0 studios for some event when I was a kid.

They gave me icecream so naturally I thought they were amazing.

    We didn't get out much.
