If you're not yet aware Torres Strait Island communities have been badly impacted by king tides to the extent that many people have lost everything, despite a $24 million sea wall having been built to stop this very thing.

These are some of the items the Mura Kosker organisation are requesting for Thursday island.
To put the issue into perspective all up this cost about $89. 
On Thursday Island? 
One single can of baby formula = $86. 
To make matters worse the Torres strait is currently reporting flooding from king tides so they need us more than ever.

Northern Australia shipping company Sea Swift is calling on local Cairns residents to help fill a container it will ship for free to Torres Strait Islands residents devastated this week by king tides in the region.
A comment from Yam Island ;
Yam Island residents who have lost their belongings, couldn’t thank you enough for your donations. 
One of the residents just sat and cried when she was told of what Seaswift and everyone was doing. 

Basic household items to restore homes are TV, TV units, mattresses - Single/Doubles, Bed Frames, fridge/freezers, washing machine, microwave, lounges, table/Chairs, kitchen appliances such as kettles, rice cooker, electrical frying pans/ woks and clothing.
